Mr P Nataraj
Managing Director, KPR Mill Limited,
The future for the Indian textile industry looks promising, buoyed by both strong domestic consumption as well as export demand as China is drifting away from textile manufacturing activities. With consumerism and disposable income on the rise, the retail sector has experienced a rapid growth in the past decade with the entry of several international players like Marks & Spencer, Guess and Next into the Indian market.
In the globalized environment, the industry would face numerous challenges and therefore, SIMA is gearing itself to remain relevant and foster the growth of the Indian textile industry.
I appeal to all the stakeholders of the Indian textile industry to stand united to make the vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister “Make in India” and “Inclusive Growth” true and meet the most important basic needs of the human being, “clothing” in a cost effective manner across the globe and ensure compliance.
